2009 H1N1 Vaccinations Clinic Information

The Borough of Butler Health Department is now offering the

2009 H1N1 Nasal Spray and Injectable Vaccines. 

 

The following people are eligible to receive the H1N1 vaccine at this time according to CDC guidelines:

·         pregnant women

·         people who live with or care for children younger than 6 months of age

·         healthcare and emergency medical services personnel

·         persons between the ages of 6 months and 24 years old

·         People aged 25-64 years with a chronic underlying medical condition that predisposes them to complications from the flu. You must bring a note from your MD

The next clinics offering 2009 H1N1 nasal spray and injectable vaccines are:

  • Tuesday, November 3rd from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Richard Butler Middle School
  • Saturday, November 7th from 2pm-5pm at the Lincoln Park Elementary School
  • Monday, November 9th from 9am-2pm at the Lincoln Park Health Department
  • Wednesday, November 11th from 3pm-6pm at the Lincoln Park Health Department
  • There will be plenty of clinics; please keep checking for updated information

 

Please bring your consent forms with you to the clinic and your doctor?s note, if applicable. 

 

There is no cost for this vaccination.

2009 H1N1 Nasal Spray Information Get the required forms from our FORMS section on this website or pick them up at the health department and bring them with you to the clinic.

This vaccine is not licensed for everyone. 

 

The following people should NOT receive it:

  • Adults 50 years of age and older,     
  • Children younger than 2 years of age,
  • Children younger than 5 with asthma or one or more episodes of wheezing within the past years,
  • People who have long-term health problems (check with your doctor,) 
  • Anyone with certain muscle or nerve disorders (Such as seizer disorders or cerebral palsy) that can lead to breathing or swallowing problems,
  • Anyone with a weakened immune system children or adolescent on long-term aspiring treatment,
  • Pregnant women.

 

 

 

2009 H1N1 Injectable Vaccine Information (go to our FORMS section to download the two needed forms or pick them up at the health department and bring them with you to the clinic)

You should not get the 2009 H1N1 flu vaccine if you have a severe (life threatening) allergy to eggs, or to any other substance in the vaccine.  Tell the person giving you the vaccine if you have any sever allergies. Also tell them if you have ever had

  • A life-threatening allergic reaction after a does of season flu vaccine
  • Guillain Barre` Syndrome (a severe paralytic illness also called GBS).
  • These may not be reasons to avoid the vaccine, but the medical staff can help you decide.

Pregnant or breastfeeding women can get the inactivated 2009 H1N1 flu vaccine.

Inactivated 2009 H1N1 vaccine may be give at the same time as other vaccines, including seasonal influenza vaccine.
